Our Distance Learning Programme in Veterinary Nursing Anaesthesia has been developed to enable all veterinary nurses and technicians access to our world-class teaching materials.

Additional sessions allow you to develop your reflective skills and enable time for consolidation and revision of your learning.

Our Distance Learning NCert/Vtech Cert Programmes offer you structured learning and enable you to access the training that you want whilst working around your busy practice life. You can choose to gain new knowledge and skills to take back to practice or you can work towards a recognised qualification. 

Nurse Certificate (NCert) 

If you would like to attain the NCert, you must a RCVS registered veterinary nurse or equivalent (if not practicing in the UK) and have been in practice for a minimum of one year by the time you take the examination. You must also be in clinical practice during the length of the course.  Proof of qualification will be required. 

You can join the programme if you are a student, or not in practice and enrolled with the RCVS; however, you will not be able to attain the NCert qualification. 

 Veterinary Technician Certificate (VTech) 

If you would like to attain the VTechCert, you must have been in practice for a minimum of one year and hold a recognised Veterinary Technician qualification. Proof of qualification will be required. 

You can join the programme if you are a student, or not in practice however, you will not be able to attain the VTech qualification. 

 Paraprofessional Award (VPPACert) 

These programmes are postgraduate qualifications and require a sound knowledge of veterinary anatomy, physiology and nursing prior to entry. 

 If you would like to attain the Paraprofessional Award then you must have been working in a veterinary environment for a minimum of one year and provide evidence that you have been involved within the discipline which is being taught on the particular programme for which you are seeking access. This will require proof of employment with reference, current CV and self-certification. 

You can join the programme if you are a Veterinary Nurse/Veterinary Technician student, however you will need to have been qualified and working in veterinary practice for a minimum of one year in order to be eligible to attain the certificate. 

 Veterinary technicians and Veterinary nurses who are qualified and employed within a veterinary environment (other than practice) may be eligible to attain the awards and should contact Improve International in the first instance for advice.
