Platelet Regenerative Therapy – Core Science and Practice Course

Aims

Regenerative medicine is a platelet cell and/or stem cell therapy modality. It can be used in the treatment of osteoarthritis, damaged and poorly vascularised tissues (e.g. tendons, ligaments and cartilage) and even chronic wounds that usually do not heal or only very slowly, and often with scar tissue formation resulting in chronic pain and reduced range of motion. It can be combined with surgical intervention or medically treated individuals, and can be used on any age or species of animal. The course is suitable for referral orthopaedic or soft tissue specialists and general surgical or medical veterinarian surgeons in primary vet care clinics.

Objectives

  • The use of regenerative therapies for the treatment of tendon, ligament and joint injuries
  • The science behind the use of cell therapy in small animals
  • When to consider using Platelet Rich Plasma and other regnerative modalities therapy in your patients?
  • The use of V-PET in veterinary practice including blood sampling, filtration, removal of platelet/white blood cell factor concentrates and patient administration
  • How to administer Platelet Rich Plasma therapy into a range of different joints and soft tissue structures - with course tutors you will inject multiple different joints to gain confidence.

Summary

This course is for educating general practitioners or certificate holders about a new era of medical science – Regenerative Medicine (stem cells and platelet rich plasma growth factors) - for enhanced rehabilitation of post-surgical joints and tendons, or medically managed musculoskeletal and osteoarthritic joints. The course covers the core science and practicalities of injecting small animal joints and soft tissue structures.
All attendees will be provided with additional regenerative medicine equipment to use afterwards in practice, to ensure continuity and ease of evaluation in practice.
