Aims

We invite vets and vet nurses to attend this cutting-edge, highly interactive, two-day course covering the medical and surgical aspects and prophylactic and therapeutic options for feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD).

We are offering a special ‘team’ rate for a vet and vet nurse attending from the same practice, or vets and nurses can choose to book independently.

With two very highly respected veterinary surgeons delivering the teaching you will go back to your clinic with a revitalised approach to these tricky cat cases.

Objectives

Learning Objectives

By the end of day one you will be able to:

  • Explain the causes of FLUTD – both common and uncommon
  • Diagnose accurately why an individual cat is suffering from FLUTD
  • Prognosticate for the owners of cats suffering from this unpleasant condition
  • Manage urethral obstruction safely and promptly to improve the long-term outcomes
  • Discuss feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) with owners, covering behavioural components and drug and neutraceutical options
  • Appreciate the medical options for other causes of FLUTD such as infection, calculi and neoplasia

By the end of day two you will be able to:

  • Choose an appropriate surgical method of treating ureteral obstruction
    • SUB
    • Stent
    • Ureteral resection and anastomosis/reimplantation
  • Decide on the next step in surgical management for cases with severe or recurrent urethral obstruction
    • Perineal urethrostomy
    • Prepubic urethrostomy
    • Tube cystostomy
    • Urethral stenting
  • Perform a variety of bladder surgeries with confidence
    • Cystotomy
    • Percutaneous Cystolithotomy (PCCL)
    • Ureteronephrectomy
    • Partial cystectomy
    • Tube cystostomy

Summary

This course includes comprehensive notes, refreshments and a buffet lunch on both days.
