Howard Seim

Howard is a graduate of Washington State University. He did his internship at Saskatoon, Canada, residency at the Animal Medical Centre in New York City and has been teaching small animal surgery at Colorado State University for 26 years, gaining many accolades for his teaching ability including the 1993 Merck AGVET Award for Creative Teaching and the Colorado State Universities N. Preston Davis Award for Instructional Innovation in 1995.

Howard has presented innumerable scientific papers, and has authored or co-authored many book chapters including the neurosurgery section of the text Small Animal Surgery (Fossum) book that accompanies the surgery course, as well as authoring the unique VideoVet series of DVDs.


Improve International was established in 1998 by a group of veterinary surgeons from across the UK. We run Continuous Professional Development training for veterinary professionals to help develop the skills and knowledge required in practice. Our programmes utilise a combination of review lectures, case-based discussion and, where applicable, hands-on practical sessions. We are an international organisation with offices in the UK and Portugal.
