Introduction:
In this highly practical two day course where you will advance your knowledge and clinical
skills in the surgical stabilisation of common fractures of the fore and hindlimb. In step-
by-step guided hands-on sessions you will gain confidence in complicated fracture repair
using plating, pinning and screws. Fracture repair sessions include pre and post-operative
radiography. Arthrodesis and bone grafting will also be performed.
By the end of this course delegates should have an understanding of:
• Biomechanics of fracture healing
• Patient assessment and fracture repair planning
• Indications for internal (pins, plates and screws) versus external fixation (linear frames)
• How to fix common fractures of the forelimbs
(humerus, radius/ulna, metacarpus)
by internal and external fixation.
Delegates will perform carpal arthrodesis, bone
